Alt-click on Debian/LXDE
« on: March 13, 2015, 12:33:13 pm »
I've disabled the alt-click drag move of OpenBox as stated there: http://forum.lxde.org/viewtopic.php?t=1189&f=8

however, I can't rotate in Cambam, anyone tried it?

And no, the other methods for rotating won't work for me, I don't use a 'mouse' on the computer so I can't click multiple buttons at once...

Is it really hard to add other options to rotate? like, in any other programs? Dunno, shift-click, or space bar, or whatever? or even --god forbid-- a 'rotate view' tool?

I second the request.

Same issue here, even with the mouse, both in Debian and Ubuntu.  The alternates in Tools-Options don't work on either, Left+Middle and Left+Right.  Even tried to disable the Alt key in linux, but it seems to be impossible.  Sigh.

Just out of interest, do all/most plugins and scripts work in the Linux version ?

Yes, the only issue I've had has been the darn ALT key being grabbed by the window manager.  I run it on Ubuntu and the Debian linuxcnc realtime kernel.
TIA,

Rick

Try this  ;D

Edit: I'm trying to grab a few minutes here and there with a house full of people so I completely forgot the fact that the Alt key was a problem, I'll change it  :P

This incorrect version now removed, please use the version below.

Right this might be better;

Keys are;

Shift + Z  rotate Z+
Shift + X  rotate X+
Shift + C  rotate Y+
Shift + A  rotate Z-
Shift + S  rotate X-
Shift + D  rotate Y-

Yow, this works very well on Ubuntu 14.04 . I'm fine with the key combinations, they should be easy to remember.

Thanks!!!

Rick

Excellent, I used keys that were close together to make life easier.

No, but it's not often anyone has a problem with it, maybe you still do ?

Minor issue:  I went to type in an Out File name with a capital A and the part rotated.   ::)

Reminds me of the text editor where if you typed "FALSE" while not in insert mode, the "F" did nothing, the "A" selected all the text, the "L" replaced the selected text with an "L", the "S" saved the file and the "E" exited...

 :(

BTW, I downloaded the plugin but the plugin menu shows me 'plugin disabled' so I guess that's why the keypresses aren't working :/
Tried to find an 'enable plugins' setting but nothing jumps to my attention...

Thanks for taking the time tho...

You are correct, I thought once the drawing view lost focus it would not happen, but I can see it does, maybe needs a rethink on the keys but there's not much choice left.
