Allow groups of machining operations (just like there are groups of drawing objects).

Each group would have several settings:

1.  It would be an ideal place to put the 'tool' selection (rather than per-MOP)
2.  It would form the basis of a step-and-repeat
3.  It would have a setting for how to enforce order of operations within the group.  Currently you can save a lot of time by simply including multiple polygons in a single MOP to share settings.  Unfortunately, if those polygons are spread across 10 parts there is a lot of wasted "G0 time".  With a group of operations you could make one MOP for each combination of settings pointing at all the relevant polygons, and a group setting of "optimize order" vs "strict order" (maybe even just 'round robin') the operations would happen in a more efficient order.
4.  There are other per-MOP operations which would abstract better to groups.  For example, a roughing/finishing cutout profile needs to have tabs in exactly the same place for both operations.  In fact, a group could have an automatic 'rough by 0.005 then finish' repeat on the operations inside it (in which case no need to share the tabs ;-)

while this has been requested before, I'd like to throw in my "+1".  Would be a big help.

Halo Folks ,

Yam now  here  and  wont also to learn from you gay’s.
I downloaded a couple days ago  CamBam  en learned  a couple of things I will try to explain this what you are looking For.

By the way I am from Belgium en my English is not from the best so my excuses if there is on the way some words that’s not correct writhen.

I will put some pictures  here to explain  what I mean , it is not that  mouths work but still it teaks time.

Here we go:
This is the first screen capture.

This  panel  is the back for my stepper motor drivers and relays boards.
It is PVC plastic 5mm thick.
As you can see there is nothing selected for the moment .

In the second  screen capture  I want to make some group’s  Like A pocket , drills and a profile.

I can select only the first  profile on the screen? Well here is a other way to select more profile’s .
Take a look on the right side of the drawing there is something blue marked .
Look at the next  screen capture  en you will understand what I mean.

I shell post some more  screen dumps  tomorrow.
Greets  BIBIP.

Hello BIBIP and welcome to the forum.

You can select multiple drawing objects from the drawing view, by
pressing  CTRL + clicking on drawing objects.

You can also drag on the drawing view to produce a selection rectangle.  This will select all shapes completely within the rectangle.

I hope this helps.

Ability to group machining options into multiple 'parts' is now in the development version of CamBam.
A test version should be appearing over the next few weeks.
