This is my attempt at a Router bed. It's constructed of 40x40 Alu frame. This is good stuff and makes a realy nice rigid frame.
The side frames were laser cut by my friend who has a nice big machine and it needed testing  Grin
Main X axis is driven by one 16x5 screw on 20mm rails. Y axis is 16 x 5 screw on 15mm rails and the z axis is on 16 x 5 screw in 20mm igus round rails with iglider nylon blocks.
Spindle motor is one of those 1.5KW air cooled from china. It runs on a 3phase inverter and sounds realy sweet.

Comments would be welcome on my design for this frame and how it could be improve.
Maybe I should have used 2 screws for x axis ?

Thanks

Len-Tikular.

Hi Len, very nice looking machine and it does look really sturdy.
I am curious about the china spindle and your 3 phase inverter.  Can you give me a web site or model number so I can look these items up?

Thanks,
George

Hi George,

The spindle is a 1.5kw air cooled. It runs up to 24000 rpm.
The inverter drive converts single to 3 phase 400vac for the motor.
Both are available on ebay. I have no problems with either of these but have done various test cuts only.
For the moment they seem fine.

Just ran my machine for the first time tonight. cut area is 400 x 1040 x 150. I'm pretty pleased.

Hi Len :
Thanks for the info.

I wonder how many get your comment on the "glider pilot"
I have used those clouds to my advantage many a time.
