I imported a DXF from Inkscape and it contained many splines.  Joining (even with crazy high tolerances) didn't work.  When I converted them all to polylines it worked fine.  Is this expected/known?

Thanks Ben, the intention was to automatically convert to polylines where needed so I will make sure this also happens here.

Keeping the objects as splines and joining them might also be a simple option.  However, all splines will ultimately end up as polylines internally when creating toolpaths.

There were also many degenerate segments.  These were easy to spot because a box-selection of "everything" left many items in the tree view unselected.  On inspection these had a single vertex.  Nothing of value was lost by deleting them.  I was surprised Edit|Polyline|Clean did not remove them.

I actually used CamBam to re-export the DXF with the joining already done and it saved me a ton of time when I took them to the laser cutter (Chinese model using obscure software).
