Please could anyone tell me how to reduce size of stl files in typical flat picture type scenes in 3d stl relief in Freecad.
Mesh mixer unable to start.
I have success with smaller file sizes in 3d on C.B. but unable to handle large files. Found some info on scaling stl files on the forum but unable to grasp it at 75 hi.
Thanks in advance for any info.      Rusty

HI Rusty
You mentioned Feecad, so here is a shot of the mesh->evaluation-repair workbench.
It works well, and I use it a fair bit, but can be hard to find.
Hope this helps.
Dave

  Thanks dh42,pixelmaker & Dave Benson,
update so far computer H.P. pro I5 win7 updated to win10 mem11gb. 650@ 3.2 ghz.  so far Meshmixer will not run, Meshlab looks good but just crumples the object, I have been following the "U" Tube videos.

Blender does tell me why,a need to have 3.3 video card. Warning open GL profile not available. Thanks Dave I had found that page, will try again to see if I can reduce the stl count in Freecad.
Thanks all will change card and report back in due time.

RUSTY,
Often I use the Polygon Reduction option in Meshlab successfully. and I recommend it highly.

https://support.shapeways.com/hc/en-us/articles/360022742294-Polygon-reduction-with-Meshlab

I know it was written for 3d printer guys. Just follow those steps it does work. Good Luck.
