Hi
I'm new on here today but have been working with Interacts for probably 25 years, only programming at the machine using the L,CP and C etc code (not sure what this format is called tbh). I now own my own Interact with a TNC155 controller. I get by alright with this but have to draw everything out on Autocad to find intersection points etc. I Really want to get in CAM because a lot of the stuff I do is needs to be pleasing to the eye so I want nice toolpaths.
Can somebody please help me with an idiots guide of which post processor I need to do this and how to load it in the system.
I've searched the forums etc but im that much of a novice with CAM nine of it makes sense to me.

Many thanks

There are a few members here who are good at sorting out post processor files, unfortunately I'm not one of them but keep checking back here for another reply.

Jetthe,

You'll find the 'veterans' here to be MOST helpful.  Generally, we do expect a new user to explore the past posts, most especially if links are given like Eddy did.

But if you have problems, experienced users are here to help.  That is one of the things that makes this site (and this package) unique.   You won't get "hey, stupd!" from us.  You'll get help.

A number of folks have gotten Heidenhain controllers working under CB.

Yours,
Lloyd

Ok thanks again chaps, there was a link on one of the replies to a tnc145 post processor that looks like it be some good. All the others seem to be in G code which is a bit beyond me, another option is for me to to figure out how to get the machine to run in G codes instead..,

Jet,
If you can get it to run g-code, you'll probably be better-off in the long run.  Almost all modern machines run with pretty-much 'standard' code.  If you ever upgraded, it would be better for your conversion (and your understanding of things) if you'd already become accustomed to working with and understanding g-code.

I’ve looked in to it today and it seems straight forward enough. I was wondering if I could send a program to the machine from CB in ISO then get the machine to convert it back so I can compare them see what does what.

Did you try any of the pp files suggested here by others ?
Have you tried CamBam's "default" post file ?

Did you have a look at the post processor documentation ? ; http://www.cambam.info/doc/plus/cam/PostProcessor.htm

Found some good info here; https://faculty.etsu.edu/hemphill/entc3710/heid-op/h-chp1.htm

Is this free software any use for comms ? https://www.heidenhain.com/en_US/software/

look in "PC Software" then "TNCremo"

It has serial comms as one option.
