Hi I have done a few jobs with cam bam and have been impressed ,And i said to myself when i do this one job i am going to buy it instead of the using the trial version anyway this is my problem
I am machining a hex 6mm x 2mm deep then machining a angle from the centre down to the widest point of hexagon using the profile and it works very well , However the toolpath needs to stay within the confines of the hex footprint as there is on nested right next to it and the toolpath cuts into it and i cannot work it out and need help Regards Bernie

This sounds like a problem easily fixed with a copy of your .cb file to look at.
inside/outside, Roughing Clearance, Tool width, etc...

Thanks Bob that helps me a bit , But is there a way to get the toolpath inside the hex when machining across the diagonal part of the hex , So machining down to the point of the hex from the centre

Like your first post I had to read this one a couple times. Unfortunately I don't understand this one after the third re-read. When I look at the toolpath filter it shows each operation starting at the center. I don't know another way to do it just using 2D geometry. I have to assume you planned to add more parameters to your operations, and the file you sent me without any was just a sample or test file.

Sample cb file attached.
CamBam version1 has the required menu functions to create the surfaces.

Your line is wider than the polyline segment. Of course the tool paths will be wider than the segment. Unless you care to explain further your problem, my original solution works.

I looked at the last file only, "emboss.cb", that influenced my example file with surfaces. Now, following Bob's reply, I reread the original post and looked at Bob's solution. Good result Bob, the example file I attached does not meet the OP's criteria but the method could still be used with surfaces if desired.

Thanks all for the help , But what i did was i manually edited the G code to shorten the tool path so it remained inside the hexagon and that machined the part okay Thanks Bernie

Why? That stuff should be taken care-of by the design! You've wasted good time doing 'corrections' by hand, when they shouldn't need corrections.

Lloyd that is correct. The problem I had was not fully understanding the requirements and I still don't, but if I had, then a solution would have been highly likely, same in Bob's case.
