Still, X should be left-right, and Y should be fore-aft, with (of course) Z being up-down.  With you standing at the 'home' position (lower-left of the work) X+ should be to the right, Y+ should be away, and Z+ should be 'up'.

This is how my machine is set up.

If I stand on the left hand long side it's just the same as CamBam
+X moves right , +Y moves up.
