1  Support / CamBam help (General usage) / Re: NEED POST TO POST INCREMENTAL CODE on: November 08, 2018, 06:05:04 am
There are gcode editors that will convert between absolute and incremental, and back, if needed.
I've used GWizard Editor for just this sort of task in the past.
I created individual MOPS with a generic XY = 0,0 origin, convert them into subprograms, then used GWizard Editor to convert the individual subprograms to incremental.
In your main calling program, then position where you need to be for each subprogram, and then call the subprogram.
If you do this, don't forget to terminate incremental mode at the end of each subprogram, or you will get a nasty surprise (ask me how I know!).
This method worked like a champ for me, and i've used it often.
Hope it works for you.
I found it handy to position using G52 and variables.
You can download a fully functioning copy of GWizard Editor for free to test.
2  Resources / Scripts and Plugins / Re: "Snappy", more snap points for CamBam plugin on: September 18, 2017, 18:43:50 pm

I have attached a new 'version 8' to the first post , please try it out.

Eddy, this works perfectly, thank you for the quick update.

Very useful plugin, and provides core functions that have been sorely missed in the base level of CamBAM.

Minor problem occurs when the cursor is hidden on snap point.
It stays hidden for dialog boxes, too.

For example, when you select 'Hide cursor on snap', and if you then select edit>transform>polar array copy>select center point, the cursor is now hidden for the dialog box for the transformation.  Unhiding the cursor fixes it, and allows the dialog to function properly, but you lose the visual cue to the desired snap point.

Maybe a possible solution would be to instead change the appearance of the cursor while snapped, perhaps with color, shape, or brightness.
4  Resources / Scripts and Plugins / Re: First attempt to do 4 axis toolpaths from a 3D model on: September 13, 2017, 04:55:37 am
This is fantastic, I can't wait to try it!

Would it be possible to allow the choice of which axis to align?
Many milling machines orient a 4th axis along the X axis rather than the Y axis.

Regardless, thanks for this!

It seems that the release of CamBam 1.0 has inspired quite a burst of creativity.
Many, many excellent new plugins have arrived in the last few months, or updates and enhancements to older plugins.
Great fun!

5  Resources / Scripts and Plugins / Re: Groups - new plugin on: November 27, 2016, 02:56:57 am

Great addition!
Thank you for this, it is quite useful.
I like that selecting one item of group also selects all items for MOPS.

One suggestion:
Would it be possible to name the group at group creation time, and have that name displayed as a top-level item within the drawing space? With the ability to roll-up, and un-roll the grouped items?
This could be very helpful.
This would be similar to the method used by Coreldraw, too.
If we were really, really lucky, one could select/hide/unhide/copy/move/etc. by group, or groups of groups.

6  Resources / Scripts and Plugins / Re: 'Extender' plugin (autocad-like 'extend' feature) on: September 24, 2016, 19:22:56 pm
Very nice, I've been hoping for this feature for quite a while.
This is a great addition!

Please don't take these as criticisms, but a few suggestions occurred to me while using:

Allow selecting plugin tool first, and then select lines to be extended.

Allow serial selection of pairs, for example, select line A and line B to be extended, perform extension, release selections, then select line C and line D, extend them, repeat, etc.

Extend two selected lines to meet that don't currently have an extended crossing point.  this would be useful for changing a corner fillet, for example. Sample work flow- explode, delete fillet, select extender, rejoin lines, re-fillet with different radius.

Thanks for this plugin!

7  Resources / Scripts and Plugins / Re: PolyClean v 1.0 - Round the coord of a PolyLine to a given number of decimals on: April 23, 2016, 19:22:29 pm
Wonderful plugin, and very handy!

Thank you for this, it can be a great time saver in certain situations.

Some suggestions for enhancements that may be useful for some:

Allow a precision setting of Zero, i.e., round to an integer value.

Could this be modified to accept objects other than polylines?
It would be useful for the other types too, such as circles, rectangles, polygons, etc.

Thanks again for this plugin.
8  Support / CamBam help (General usage) / Re: CamBam with Mach3 (spindle speed, tool changer) on: November 21, 2013, 03:25:00 am
At the risk of a 'dealer' voice entering the discussion, I might mention that I am both Tormach dealer and CAMBAM dealer (it's our preferred CAM package!).  We've done a post processor specifically for Tormachs, and it works for both the PCNC770 and PCNC1100, either with or without tool changer.

It is free, and you are welcome to a copy of it.   We offer it to anyone that uses CAMBAM and has a Tormach, whether or not they bought either from us.   Just PM me and I will send it on to you.

I'd also be happy to discuss what changes we needed to make to the standard Mach3 post to get things to work properly with the Tormach.  They are not extensive, but they are significant.
